RioBravoFineArt: 110 N. Broadway
RioBravoFineArt presents The Quest, The Struggle, The Journey, a retrospective of work by Dave Barnett opening on Saturday, May 11, 2024. Barnett is one of New Mexico’s most talented and original painters, and this much anticipated show will fill all three of the main-level gallery spaces.
Barnett creates bold images of Southwestern flora and fauna, bosque and mountain landscapes, small town street scenes, and geologic formations, both large and small. His images always give a fresh perspective and unique view of both the natural and man-made worlds. Regardless of the coloration, form, texture, and composition that Barnett uses in a particular painting, there is always great drama. Although Barnett has his own very recognizable style, or styles, he can make subtle reference to such diverse artists as Jasper Johns, Edward Hopper, and René Magritte.
Most of Barnett’s paintings are approximately fifty-two-by-fifty-two inches. The use of the three main-level gallery spaces for this show presents the opportunity to have an excellent selection of paintings from each of the various series created by Barnett. The Barnett show runs through July 21, 2024.
