Here are some of the events that took place during June's Second Saturday Art Hop:

Snakestone Studios: 324 N. Broadway

June Jewell has explored many mediums (digital, acrylic, gouache, watercolor, printmaking, woodburning, embroidery, fabric design, etc.) and subjects (portraits, animals, abstracts, still life, landscapes, etc.) in her lifetime of art making. This solo show will represent colorful works from 2000 and beyond, and also be a celebration of June's 40 years on earth. Snakestone Studios is located in downtown Truth or Consequences, NM and ordinarily houses the works of 5+ local artists. Delicious delights by Kimberly’s Guesthouse Kitchen.

Opens Friday. June 12th 6-9pm & Saturday 13th 6-9pm

Full June schedule coming soon to the Snakestone Studios FB page.

RioBravoFineArt: 110 N. Broadway

The opening show at RioBravoFineArt will feature four new artists for the gallery, Karen Ahlgren, Karen Argeanas, Jeffrey Schmitt, and Andy Young. The show will also feature some new works by two of the regular gallery artists – Ricky Padilla and Suzanne Pointon.

Three of the new artists explore the wonders of the Southwest, each in a unique way. Ahlgren presents vivid images of the Southwest fauna using watercolor on gouache. Argeanas paints the Southwestern landscape, both built and natural, in a style reflective of much of the sparsity of the desert environment. Young uses strong coloration and bold geometric shapes in his landscape images. The fourth new artist, Schmitt, brings a new aspect, glass art, to the eclectic collection of art at the gallery. Schmitt is a longtime New Mexico glass artist whose featured work in the show will include several wall hangings.

Pointon and Padilla have been busy as of late with work exploring new techniques and subject matter. The show by Dina D’Argo, Running with the Wolves, is being extended through June, and D’Argo will be present at the June Art Hop opening show. Music will be provided by the RGee Trio.
