Thank you to everyone who came out for MainStreet T or C’s Trick or Treat Downtown on Halloween. We’re especially grateful to the businesses and individuals who handed out candy, created Haunted Houses, hosted dance parties and live music, and helped make it a wonderful community celebration. Special thanks also go to our MainStreet candy sponsors, Slainté and Davis-Fleck Pharmacy.

As the holiday season gets underway, MainStreet encourages you to shop local and keep your dollars circulating here in Sierra County. A walk through downtown, or a visit to any of the small shops throughout the county, offers unique gift options and a chance to support your neighbors.

To celebrate and help local businesses, MainStreet T or C is partnering with the T or C & Sierra County Chamber of Commerce and MRGEDA for a Small Business Saturday event on November 29. Shoppers who make a purchase at any locally owned Sierra County business that day can exchange their receipts for raffle tickets for a chance to win gift cards to local stores. For more details, visit our website at and look for our ad in next week’s Sentinel.

We’re also gearing up for Old-Fashioned Christmas and the Parade of Lights, taking place on Friday, December 12. Parade registration is now open! Light up your vehicle, your bike, your boat, or just yourself, and join in the fun. Find more information and a link to registration on our website.

Finally, as you head downtown during the holidays and in the new year, plan your route to avoid Foch Street between Broadway and Main - it will soon be under construction as the Foch Street Great Blocks Project gets underway. Improvements will include new asphalt, new accessible sidewalks, angled parking with native landscaping and water-harvesting features, upgraded lighting, and other enhancements. This project is funded through a capital outlay grant from New Mexico MainStreet.
