T or C Curb Appeal
In August 2025, downtown T or C business/building owners were able to apply for a microgrant between $200 and $1,200, to complete an exterior, street-facing project that improves the "curb appeal" of their building and the town. In early September a Selection Committee met and awarded project funding.
This project was funded by a grant from the New Mexico Resiliency Alliance along with additional donations from local organizations and individuals.
Keep your eyes open this fall for some upgrades to downtown business facades!

Dancing in the Streetlight
Downtown concert series
MainStreet T or C is collaborating with the City of Truth or Consequences to present a short concert series, Dancing in the Streetlight, in late summer/early fall 2025.
This is a 2-part series of outdoor, free, family-friendly concerts held at Healing Waters Plaza in central Downtown. Attendees bring lawn chairs, enjoy dinner from a food truck, and dance in the streets.
Recently Completed Projects and Events

Fiesta 75th Anniversary
and Fall Fiesta
MainStreet T or C oversaw the planning and execution of the 75th anniversary of Fiesta on May 2-4, the annual celebration of our town's name change from Hot Springs to Truth or Consequences in 1950.
On September 12-14 we continued the celebration with Fall Fiesta.

Trash Can Painting 2025
MainStreet T or C invited community members to volunteer to paint one of the downtown trash cans. A successful pilot project in 2023 saw the painting of 6 cans, and this round includes 8 additional cans to be painted.
Artists painted their cans in January/February 2025. Visit downtown T or C to see some fantastic new art!

Show of Hands
Through a grant from the New Mexico Resiliency Alliance, as well as generous donations from local businesses, organizations, and individuals, MainStreet T or C carried out a project called Show of Hands.
We invited local entrepreneurs (current or aspiring businesses) to submit an application and business plan.
A selection panel chose the 4 strongest plans and invited those entrepreneurs to prepare a pitch for a public event.
Attendees at the event voted to determine the winner of a $5,000 grant.

Old-Fashioned Christmas
Event Date: Friday, December 13, 2024
Downtown T or C was lit up with festive decorations, and the Parade of Lights was the biggest it's been in years! Santa met with many children at Healing Waters Plaza, shoppers enjoyed stores open late and vendors at the plaza, and fire barrels around town were gathering spots to beat the chill (and a few even offered s'more fixings).

Small Business Saturday
Event Date: November 30, 2024
Time: 12 - 8 pm
Shoppers turned in receipts for raffle tickets, for a chance to win gift cards to local small businesses.
We recorded nearly $8,000 in receipts turned in from Sierra County small businesses on just that one day!
Founded by American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses and communities across the country and is part of the larger Shop Small Movement.
E-commerce in T or C

MainStreet T or C was awarded the LEADS grant to provide a variety of FREE workshops to help business owners strengthen their e-commerce skills and knowledge.
From March-May 2024 we held 18 workshops, in-person and online. Online versions are available to stream on our website!
We also provided free 1:1 training for business owners, and seven businesses (drawn randomly from all workshop attendees) won $500 of consulting time with a local web designer or graphic designer.
